Goals and Purpose
The Wrexham Texans Football Academy (WTFA) Literacy Project is a program created to support local schools from grades 5-8, using football as a vehicle to promote reading and writing levels in both boys and girls.
The LP is a 5 week course where qualified and background-checked staff visit schools and deliver the program on a selected day/time of the week for 5 sessions.
Sessions are created to engage students on the course by reading selected football match reports, observing video highlights of a game then creating a match report based on their reading and visual observations.

Program Pricing
- $500 Monthly: Full five-week course that consists of 5 hours in the classroom and 5 hours on the soccer field. This course is to be delivered on site at the Elementary or Middle School of choice during school hours. Options are available for this program based on a case by case.

All WTFA staff participating in the Literacy Project are qualified and background-checked.
Here's an example of a previously offered LP course for Grade 7, which was offered during 3 class periods over 5 consecutive Mondays:
Week 1 - Introduction to the course to students and ice breakers.
Week 2 - Reading a match report/observe highlights of a game then take notes to prepare match report.
Week 3 - Start of match report via paper copy/Word document if computers are available.
Week 4 - Students to finalize match report and read/present findings to peers. Prep questions for Week 5 guest speaker.
Week 5 - Semi professional guest speaker into school for students to interview on pathway to becoming an Elite athlete and on the importance of school work.
